For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.
(Psalms 149:4)
I grow up in an environment where survival of the fittest is commonly accepted by the education system and society. People honor the top performers and who stand at the tip of the power chain. This is a fatherless society where there is no God Father who cares, but rather, I am the god if I have the power and resources.
In my family, my father is an absent father, he struggles to provide and support the family with hard-working all the time but meanwhile he also experiences the deep root of fatherlessness. There was alcoholic problem in the blood line, the males tend to run into some form of addictions to escape the huge pressure from this survival game. High blood pressure was another symptom in the males of the family , because the thoughts of worries and anxiety build up in the subconscious mind which triggers the hypertension of the blood veins . To make it worse, in our culture, we consider sternness of the father as the love of the father to the children. In my whole life, until today, I never heard my father say one time, I love you son! I know, in my logical mind, he loves me, he scarified so much for the family. Since I am the youngest child, my brother and sister always say that I am the one the whole family loves dearly. But from my emotional mind, or inner being, I could not feel it, and even could not be able to mimic it and show my affections naturally to my son. I have to try hard to do this. I struggled to say such words of affirmation to my family members. In one way, giving money to the family members is one of the important ways to say I love you. Although, I would prefer my father could hold me and kiss me and say, son, I love you and I am proud of you!
Recently, while I am studying the topic of orphan mindset. I was reminded the first time I heard God say, I love you. It was about 20 years ago at Austin, when my wife and I just arrived at US and we were struggling with paying all the bills. I remembered, it was a Friday’s late afternoon, I was exhausted after a long week’s hard-working at work. I was waiting for my bus at the bus stop. I felt depressed and my heart was heavy. Suddenly, a gentle voice says, "I love you!" To be honest, at that time, my feeling was so numb that I could not feel much love inside. I felt a little bit better, but I just ignored it. Similar event happened again about 5 years later, I was sitting at my bedroom in Oklahoma and I was very stressed by my work assignments and church activities. This time, I heard, "I love you, son! " At this time, I did feel much of relief, but in my mind, I was still occupied with all the tasks in front of me and I just ignored the gentle voice again and never realized that how important this is in my life and never thanked the Lord.
Today, after more than 10 years, while I am studying the topic of orphan mindset, I came to the realization that why God always said this to me in those moments. He did not say, "don't worry, I will take care of you", or "I will provide for you", but He said, "son, I love you!"
I guess, deep in my heart, it is not the issue of lack of money, or the hardship of the life, it’s a heart longing for the relationship with a loving father! The Lord God knows my heart and He knows this very well from the beginning! I want to use this opportunity to say to our God: Father, thank you for your faithfulness! Thank you for sending Lord Jesus to redeem me of a slave and call me home. Holy Spirit, thank you for ministering the Father’s love into my life. So, an orphan can find a home, a slave is now adopted as a son of God by His unfailing love. Thank you, Lord!! Praise the Lord!!
The orphan mindset, is deeply rooted in the "Unbelief of what God says about us ".
Beloved brothers and sisters, please read these scriptures below, please take these words into your heart, believe them and let them nourish your soul:
John 1:12, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Galatians 4:7, you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
So, I am a child of God, an heir of God, and I am no longer an orphan or a slave.
2 Corinthians 5:19, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
1 Corinthians 1:30, it is due to Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.
So, I am accepted by God, I am righteous and blameless in His eyes. He does not count my wrongdoings!
Zephaniah 3:17, The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will rejoice over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
So, I am deeply loved by my God as He rejoice over me in His quiet love or shouts of joy.
Song of Solomon 4:1, How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are!
Verse 9, You have enchanted my heart with a single glance of your eyes.
Psalms 149:4, For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.
So, the Lord God takes pleasure in me and I am beautiful in His eyes as part of His bride. One glance of my eyes can touch God's heart!
Dear brothers and sisters, If there is one message at this hour of the age I want you to keep in your heart, that is "Jesus loves you!" It does not mean He will let us continue to living in sins, but today's message is, "God loves His sons", if He has problem with us, He will tell us and discipline us and give us grace to repent. Our Father God is a good father!
Remember who you are in Christ Jesus.
You are sons and daughters of God purchased by Jesus's blood.
God is a good Father who delights in you! Embrace the truth!
